INCLEMENT WEATHER AND
EMERGENCY SITUATION POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Inclement Weather
Please follow the guidelines suggested below in case of questionable weather
or other emergency situations. They are designed to minimize confusion for
your participants and VIT staff.
- Your organization
or presenter decides whether or not an event should be cancelled. Please
plan on notifying VIT of a cancellation at least two hours before your
event is to start so that we can make sure our staff does not travel
unnecessarily.
- You can contact VIT
by either calling the Scheduling Coordinator at 802.728.1695 or your Event
Liaison. VIT will then notify its personnel. You are responsible for notifying
your participants of the cancellation.
- Our office hours
are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. In most cases, you
and a VIT staff member will have arranged how to communicate if
necessary outside of business hours.
- If your event is cancelled due to weather conditions, you may reschedule at no cost.
- If the event is held,
but some participants cannot make it due to bad weather or driving conditions, you may request that the event be taped. Normal taping charges and policies apply.
Emergency Conditions
In rare circumstances,
where the safety of VIT staff is involved or when prevailing conditions
have been deemed exceedingly dangerous or of an emergency
nature by the State or Town, the VIT Executive Director will decide to close
VIT sites. In this situation, all efforts will be made to notify you of the
closing, and a message to this effect will be left on the Scheduling Coordinator
line - 802.728.1695.
There will also be notification on our web site: www.vitlink.org
